Iminta – First Look

As a note, I’ve been actively using FriendFeed for quite a little while now, so my impression of Iminta is probably colored by my experiences there.

To me, if you are going to enter a market where an existing product defines the market, then you have to do what that product does – better. And that’s where Iminta fails in my opinion. Sure, it’s really pretty (Steve Hodson has some pictures on his blog) and it’s got the requisite AJAX goodies that all Web 2.0 sites have. But the execution just isn’t as strong as FriendFeed.

Initially, I thought the approach to importing all of your networks was stronger on iminta, but going back to the import on FriendFeed, I see that it, like the rest of the site, is minimalistic and clean.

Like a great number of Google products, FriendFeed just does what it’s supposed to do … and no more.

Thanks to Frederic for the invite.
